Coalescence
A series of images shot over the course of several years while living abroad in Italy. Built upon the idea that experience and time can be compressed to a singular flat plane of light sensitive film grains. Over the course of the hand held long exposures, new forms are created that could not have been seen, producing a new experience for the viewer. The series was an evolution from shooting from the hip adding longer exposures producing a noticeable blur with a small point and shoot camera. These more dramatic compositions coupled with high-speed large-grain film produced a poetic pointillism when the images were printed at the proper scale. This compression of time to a pointillistic frame of reference through my physical act of shooting is the coalescence of the moments of time and motion.
